North Sapphire Beach 2009

The McDonald residence is located within an award winning beachside precinct on the northern beaches of Coffs Harbour. In response to both the built and environmental contexts of the site, the orientation and openness of the primary living spaces allow for outlook to adjacent woodlands, while maximising permeability to sea breezes and northern solar access. The house is characterized by rendered masonry elements, skillion roof forms, generous balcony and eave over-hangs, and an expressive use of timber structure and cladding.
